The seminar for women entrepreneurs is organized with the support of the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk
Professor of Strategic and Innovation Management at the Latvian Business and Finance School, member of the coordination committee of the institutional assessment program of the European Association of Universities (Belgium), board member of the Association of Professors of Latvia Tatyana Volkova was invited as an expert. The business specialist noted that women will be the driving force of entrepreneurship. This is primarily due to changes in the economic structure.
– Today, the economy of developed countries does not depend on industrial production, where men play the main role. In modern conditions, the intangible side, innovations related to the social sphere, logistics, design, art, etc., come to the forefront.
For example, in Latvia, production accounts for only 15% of the economy, agriculture – 2%, and the service sector – 85%, in which women best manifest themselves. They are more creative, think creatively, many start their own businesses, and we have one of the best indicators in Europe in this regard, – Tatyana Volkova shared her thoughts.
The expert also emphasized that modern women are highly educated, strive to prove themselves, realize themselves, and are not afraid of risks. Some start their own business at 50, or even at 65.
Analyzing the situation in Belarus, Tatyana Volkova expressed the opinion that it is necessary to create a more favorable business environment, possibly a support fund for women entrepreneurs, launch special programs, and provide businesswomen with the opportunity to participate in government orders. Tatyana Volkova specifically highlighted the field of social entrepreneurship, where women can best manifest themselves.
– It is difficult to be an entrepreneur, a wife, a mother, and a housewife at the same time.
Women should be encouraged, their self-esteem boosted, and social support groups organized, – emphasized Tatyana Volkova.The Chairperson of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Public Association "Belarusian Union of Women" Galina Zhelanova said that in our country, small enterprises in the fields of medicine, education, and services are more often created by women.
Today, employment issues are relevant for Belarus, and in this regard, a significant role is assigned to women who find their niche and create new jobs. Galina Zhelanova noted the participation of women.
The seminar "The Role of Women in the Development of Entrepreneurship in Modern Society" was attended by members of the board of the regional and city organizations of the Public Association "Belarusian Union of Women", entrepreneurs, representatives of enterprises and government structures, as well as the head of the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk, the only man in the women's community, Ugis Skuja.
