Senno is preparing for the regional "Dozhinki-2016"
A new registry office, a fountain, an open-air museum of military equipment are only part of the facilities planned to be opened in the district center for the agro-festival.
The readiness of the facilities is estimated at 70 percent. Reconstruction and construction in Senno are funded from several sources: republican, regional, and district budgets. Some facilities are being renovated at the expense of the own funds of enterprises and organizations, and at the expense of the regional investment program.
From 600 to 800 people from forty organizations and enterprises are involved daily in construction, repair, and landscaping here.
The entire progress of work is constantly monitored not only by the local leadership but also by the regional one. A staff meeting is held weekly, and minutes of assignments are compiled. Last Wednesday, under the leadership of the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Belous, another staff meeting was held. Heads of enterprises and associations, departments and services of the Regional Executive Committee, as well as representatives of district structures headed by the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Vasily Cherednik, took part. The working group visited the main facilities where construction and repair work is underway. The results were analyzed at the District Executive Committee. Nothing was overlooked, as such festivals are held not for the sake of celebration, but to give a new impetus to the socio-economic development of the region.
Assessing the situation at the construction sites, Vladimir Nikolaevich noted that all work should be completed by the end of August, as the celebration itself is planned for mid-September. Workers are given a little less than two weeks to complete what has been started. Builders assure that they will manage: everything is on schedule. Work on cultural facilities is nearing completion, and school reconstruction is being finalized. Roads are being actively repaired. Repair work on facilities is almost completed.
trade and public catering. At the same time, there is still a lot to be done at the city stadium. Here, it is planned to lay an even lawn for the football field, equip the stands, and lay tracks for athletes. Next to the stadium, the sports complex is actively undergoing reconstruction. As specialists note, after thermal renovation and the installation of an autonomous heating system, it will be possible to train there even in winter. The collection of the open-air museum is gradually being replenished with military equipment. With the assistance of the Ministry of Defense, a self-propelled artillery mount, a howitzer, guns, an infantry fighting vehicle, and two aircraft – Su-24 and Su-27 – have already been installed in the Three Heroes Park. Nearby, in the central square, the Alley of Heroes will be renovated, which will be adorned with portraits of famous local warriors – Heroes of the Soviet Union, including Pyotr Masherov and Alexander Gorovets. After reconstruction and landscaping, the central square has changed, the сквер next to it, and Sovetskaya Street has become pedestrian. The replacement of the street lighting system, lighting for buildings, the park, and the сквер is planned. The main scope of work has been completed, but there are some shortcomings in the repair and landscaping of residential areas, the construction of a fountain, and the overall tidying up and polishing of the city's facilities.
The grand opening of the Palace of Marriage is planned for August 26. There are already enough people who wish to tie the knot in the new registry office.
Local residents are also helping to improve the city. Many of them are involved in public works to improve the embankment of Lake Sennen. This place with a pier and a gazebo will become another hallmark of the district center, which will allow the residents of Senno to be proud of their city, culture, monuments, and traditions, and the current capital of "Dazhynki" will be no worse than the previous one.
