Sergey Levkovich visited VSU during the conduct of the CE and CT in Russian and Belarusian languages
The main goal is to monitor the progress of the admission campaign, explained Sergey Levkovich. He emphasized that every applicant must pass the tests in Russian or Belarusian. And it is very important that the current legislation is observed, a working atmosphere is created, so that the students feel comfortable.
— Centralized examinations have been held for the second year now, — said the Aide to the President. — Perhaps not everything is perfect yet, but it is important that there are equal conditions for all applicants, for all graduates. I think this principle is observed, and conditions for self-realization of each child have been created. Well, there is no limit to perfection. I see that the Ministry of Education, the main department for education of the regional executive committee are constantly concerned with improving the conditions for admission, while maintaining the principle of fairness and an equal approach to everyone.
Sergey Levkovich positively assessed the new system, which combines CE and CT.
— In my opinion, this is definitely better than it was before, — he noted. — The most important thing is that we have somewhat streamlined the conduct of these tests for applicants. Now it is not the case that a child can take several tests and then choose where he wants to enroll. And this is correct. A young person must determine this from the outset and improve their knowledge in the subjects that will be required in the future, purposefully pursue the specialty they have chosen.
Sergey Levkovich emphasized that in addition to passing the CE and CT, there are now many other opportunities to enter universities. These include studying in specialized classes, participating in olympiads, and benefits for those who choose specialties that are in high demand in the economy — for example, pedagogical or agricultural ones.
— The doors are open to everyone. The main thing is to make an effort and strive for excellence, — concluded Sergey Levkovich.
The results of the first exam are already known. According to the Vitebsk Regional Committee of State Control, 5410 applicants registered for the CE in a subject of their choice in the northern region, and 647 for the CT. Attendance at the CE was 97%, and at the CT – 87%. Of those who did not attend the centralized exam, six were absent for valid reasons – they will be able to retake the exam on a reserve day. Four were exempted for medical reasons, and eight were external students.
