Sergey Naryshkin: We will defend the right to sovereign development

The actions of Western countries towards Russia and Belarus are aggressive, but Russia, like Belarus, will defend its right to sovereign development. This was stated at a meeting with the leadership of the State Security Committee of Belarus by the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.

Today, the 20th joint meeting of the collegiums of the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation was held.

After the meeting with the leadership of the State Security Committee, Sergey Naryshkin answered journalists' questions. One of them concerned restrictions and sanctions against Russia and official Minsk. "We assess the actions of Western countries as aggressive actions, actions that are undertaken outside the framework of international law. I must say that in the Russian Federation, these actions are perceived extremely negatively by our citizens. Among our population, the unacceptability of such a policy of Western countries is growing. I think similar phenomena are occurring in Belarusian society as well. These are all elements of hybrid warfare, aggressive actions. Because the term 'unfriendly steps' is very mild. These aggressive actions are directed against the sovereignty of our countries, and we will not tolerate this. We stand firmly on the positions of defending universal human values that we cherish, and no matter what happens, we will defend and follow our right to sovereign development, to the choice of our own unique path of development," Sergey Naryshkin emphasized.
