Sergey Petukhov became the head coach of the Vitebsk ice hockey club
September 3, Minsk / Sergey Vishnevsky - BELTA /. Sergei Petukhov, the coach of Minsk "Keramin" which was disbanded in the offseason, has become the new head coach of the Vitebsk ice hockey club, reports BELTA correspondent.
As the official website of HC "Vitebsk" informs, the former head coach Sergei Korolev submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the management.
Under Korolev's leadership, the Vitebsk team performed unsuccessfully in the Belarus Cup, suffering defeats in all four matches of the preliminary stage and taking last place in their group.
It is noteworthy that Petukhov will be the fourth head coach of "Vitebsk" in a year. A few days before the start of the last national championship, Russian specialist Nikolai Kazakov unexpectedly resigned, and he was replaced by Belarusian coach Valery Voronin. However, at the end of November, he also wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will, after which Sergei Korolev, who worked in the club's structure, urgently took over the helm. It was planned that he would be a temporary figure, as the management of "Vitebsk" intended to invite a Russian specialist by the end of December. But Sergei Korolev worked until the end of the season. He took 8th place with the team in the regular championship of the country and led them to the playoffs, where in the first round they capitulated in a duel with the capital's "Yunost".
However, despite leaving the post of head coach, Sergei Korolev remains in the club's structure as a coach of the farm team "Vitebsk-2".
The new head coach of "Vitebsk", Sergei Petukhov, will be assisted by Vladimir Korol, who also helped him at Minsk "Keramin". Today, the coaching staff of the Vitebsk team will debut in an away friendly match against Novopolotsk "Khimik-SKA". -0-
