FEZ "Vitebsk" will present three projects worth $72 million at the Belarusian Investment and Economic Forum.

November 10, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The Vitebsk Free Economic Zone (FEZ Vitebsk) plans to present three projects with a total cost of over $72 million at the Belarusian Investment and Economic Forum, the head of the investment and foreign economic relations department of the FEZ administration, Oleg Kondratovich, told a BELTA correspondent.

All investment proposals are related to the use of new and high technologies. The FEZ administration expects to attract strategic investors for the implementation of projects in the construction industry using local raw materials - dolomite. Large reserves of dolomite discovered in the region make this topic promising and attractive.

For example, one of the projects involves the construction of a plant for the production of dolomite bricks using dry hyperpressing technology with an annual capacity of 13 million units. The costs for its implementation are estimated at $5 million, the main part of which will be directed towards the acquisition of technological equipment. The initiators of the project have already established Eurokirpich LLC, which has been registered as a resident of FEZ Vitebsk. In addition, a land plot of 2.3 hectares has been allocated for the enterprise's location, 6 km from the dolomite deposit, and preparations are currently underway for design and survey work.

The second construction-themed project, "Construction of plants for the production of magnesian cement, lime, and gypsum binders," also involves the use of dolomite flour as raw material. Its reserves in the region are estimated at 710 million tons. The investment required for the project implementation is $30 million.

Another investment proposal, "Dry Pectin Production," is based on the implementation of a new patented technology involving the extraction of pectin (a thickener of plant origin) from sugar beet pulp (a byproduct of sugar production). This technology does not involve the use of strong mineral acids and alcohols. Pectin is used in confectionery and bakery production, and pharmaceutical companies are also among its consumers. The project cost is $37.4 million. The enterprise's production capacity is designed to produce 600 tons of dry pectin per year.

The Belarusian Investment and Economic Forum will be held in Minsk on November 12-13. -0-
