Chess classes will appear in two boarding-type children's institutions in Orsha

Шахматные классы появятся в двух детских учреждениях интернатного типа Орши

Chess classes will be opened in two Orsha boarding schools, as reported by Dmitry Bukhovets, acting head of the sports and tourism sector of the education, sports and tourism department of the Orsha District Executive Committee.

The grand opening of the chess classes will take place today at the district socio-pedagogical center and children's home No. 1. The Orsha Chess Federation and the local executive committee received assistance in implementing the initiative from the Russian Chess Federation (RCF). "The head of the RCF's charitable projects, Georgy Nagibin, will provide us with the necessary methodological literature for teaching the game from scratch, as well as chess sets, boards, and clocks. Each class is designed for 8-16 people. The children will be taught by a professional educator from the Orsha District Center for Children and Youth Physical Culture, Tourism, and Local History," explained Dmitry Bukhovets. He noted that the Russian colleagues offered their help not by chance.

Young chess players from Orsha regularly demonstrate success in major competitions, including international ones. Recently, Mikhey Naumenko became the winner of the European Championship for children under eight years old, which was held in Croatia. Vyacheslav Zarubitsky won bronze among athletes under 12 at the World Chess Olympiad in Mongolia. Every year, Orsha hosts dozens of tournaments from district to international levels. In January, the XIII International Chess Tournament "Orsha-2015" was held at the "Ice Arena" sports complex, with participants from 13 countries. And very recently, on October 10, the republican Olympic Days of Youth in chess concluded here.

By the way, hockey passions will soon replace intellectual battles on the ice arena. From October 20 to 25, the "Golden Puck" Spartakiad of the Union State for children and youth will be held here. 6 teams from Belarus and 6 teams from Russia will compete on the ice.
