Sixteen science and technology parks are planned to be created in Belarus
June 12, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. It is planned to establish 16 science and technology parks in all regions of Belarus, Igor Voytov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology (SCST), told a BELTA correspondent. He is taking part in a republican seminar on the implementation of modern technologies and equipment, and innovative solutions for the water supply and sewerage system of Belarus, which is being held in Vitebsk.
The establishment of science and technology parks is envisaged by the State Program for the Innovative Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2007-2010. The formation of territorial innovation infrastructure is underway in the country. 10 such science and technology parks have already been established. They are being created, first of all, in major scientific and production centers of the regions (in the Vitebsk region, these are Vitebsk and Polotsk) on the basis of educational institutions and enterprises, which allows for the utilization of the scientific, technical, personnel, and production potential of the regions.
According to Igor Voytov, it is precisely in the combination of science and production that a significant economic effect can be achieved. The main tasks to be addressed with the help of science and technology parks are related to the development of new technologies and their implementation in production.
In Vitebsk, the issue of establishing such a science and technology park is being worked out on the basis of the unitary enterprise "Polymerkonstruktsiya," which is engaged in the development of new technologies and technological solutions in the field of water treatment, as well as the production of import-substituting equipment for the water supply and sewerage system. The implementation of biogenic wastewater treatment technologies developed at the Vitebsk enterprise, as well as technological solutions in the field of water supply system design, allows not only to effectively address the issues of providing quality water to the country's residents but also to actively enter foreign markets with domestic technologies, noted the Deputy Chairman of the SCST. The establishment of a science and technology park on the basis of UP "Polymerkonstruktsiya" will make it possible to combine the efforts of scientists and practitioners, and to involve young scientific personnel in the innovation process to solve the problems of the development of the housing and communal services sector of the country, he added. -0-
