"School of Smart Nutrition" started operating in Vitebsk
"In our "School of Healthy Eating," everyone can learn how to eat properly to prevent many diseases, how to organize their diet to get everything they need and nothing superfluous, how to understand calories, glycemic indices, rationality, balance, and other subtleties of healthy eating. In Belarus, about 58% of the adult population suffers from excess weight, and 24.3% of them have been diagnosed with "obesity." This is the result of universal food freedom and bad habits. The number of patients is growing by 3,000 people annually, 50% of whom are children and adolescents. Only when problems arise, and even then not always, do people remember about their diet, calories, and physical activity. But where to start, especially when the process has already begun? This is what we decided to help the residents of Vitebsk with, to combat the problem together," explained Irina Borisova.
The school's program is designed for 5 weekly sessions, during which project participants will gain knowledge and thematic information and educational materials on healthy eating. Special attention will be paid to risk factors such as stress, physical inactivity, and lack of sleep. Individual consultations will be available not only during group training but also after its completion. Currently, 3 groups have been formed with 10 to 20 people each, mainly older people, but there are also young people.
