Schools — a modern look: Vladimir Terentyev and Dmitry Khoma visited educational institutions in Shumilino

Studying the situation in educational institutions in connection with the reform in this sector, the transition to normative financing is one of the goals of the visit to Shumilino district by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentiev and the Head of the Main Department for Education of the Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Khoma, who are delegates of the VI All-Belarusian People's Congress.

During the meeting with the staff of Shumilino Secondary School No. 2, Vladimir Terentiev noted that in modern conditions, the creation of an optimal network of educational institutions and the rational use of budget funds become fundamentally important, as additional expenses from the budget for some institutions put others in unequal conditions and do not allow them to develop their material and technical base.

Another goal of the visit to the district, as emphasized by Vladimir Terentiev, is to study the situation at Secondary School No. 2, which is morally outdated. Every year, significant investments are made in educational institutions in the region within the framework of preparation for "Dazhynki" and under the program for the development of small towns. Moreover, these works often become the beginning of profound transformations and continue for several years. For example, last year Ob'ol Secondary School acquired a new look.

The basic institution in Shumilino in preparation for "Dazhynki" is Secondary School No. 1, which will become a "school of the future." However, the district and regional leadership considered it incorrect to leave Secondary School No. 2 without repairs, as a new microdistrict is being built here, which is being populated by young and large families, and the number of students in the school is steadily increasing.

During an open discussion, employees of the educational institution drew attention to the need to create a school stadium, a shortage of classrooms, overcrowding of the kindergarten, the absence of playgrounds, and other issues.

The proposals were summarized by the school principal Zhanna Ragunovich, who noted that the most pressing problems are with the canteen, restrooms, sports hall, and the lack of changing rooms, the demolition of emergency buildings on the school grounds, and the fencing of the territory.

Dzmitry Khoma noted that the department works in close contact with local authorities, which determine the priorities. Undoubtedly, there is a strong desire to bring all institutions in order, but it is necessary to proceed from the actual funding. It is necessary to complete the renovation of the Obalsky kindergarten, which began last year, and to put in order Shumilinskaya Secondary School No. 1. 3 million rubles have been allocated for the capital repair of educational institutions for 2021, and this is the amount to count on.

Representatives of the regional authorities visited the school canteen, got acquainted with the proposals for its expansion, and approved them. With minimal costs, the capacity of the school canteen will increase by 1.5 times, which will help solve the problem with student nutrition.
