School fights can result in a hefty fine - Ministry of Internal Affairs
September 1, Minsk / Vasily Malashenkov - BELTA /. A school brawl can result in a hefty fine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed BELTA. In case of a brawl between schoolchildren, police officers have the right to draw up a report under Article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for a fine of up to thirty basic units (one basic unit is Br35 thousand).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also noted that in some schools, the administration does not take measures to combat smoking. Parents and children need to remember that for smoking at school or in the adjacent territory, a report can be drawn up under Article 17.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (a fine of up to four basic units). In addition, for drinking beer in school stadiums, a fine of up to eight basic units can be imposed under Article 17.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. However, the police note that drinking alcohol on the street is now much less common than it used to be. In any case, a school employee or a passerby can always call the 102 hotline and report a group drinking on school grounds.
Unfortunately, it is rare for conversations in such groups to go without swearing. The use of obscene language by schoolchildren, like brawling, falls under Article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (a fine of up to thirty basic units).
Article 17 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, like some other articles, applies to offenders from the age of 14. From the same age, one will have to answer for the "art" with which some teenagers "decorate" the city with spray cans.
As for juvenile hooligans who are not yet 14 years old, responsibility for their actions is borne by their parents: parents will be issued reports under Article 9.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Failure to fulfill parental duties," which provides for a fine of up to ten basic units.
In addition, in schools, as in many other public places, valuable items are sometimes stolen. The ministry does not keep special statistics on thefts in educational institutions, but experience shows that mobile phones are most often the object of criminal encroachment. As a rule, other schoolchildren steal phones from children. However, outsiders can also break in, for example, into an unlocked cloakroom.
In addition to mobile phones, other small valuable items and, of course, money are stolen. It is best to carry all this with you, trying not to leave it unattended. As noted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it would be best if teachers designated one secure place for storing mobile phones and other valuables.
The police reminded that for theft of property worth less than ten basic units, administrative responsibility is incurred (a fine of up to thirty basic units or arrest), and for the theft of more expensive items, a criminal case may be initiated under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of Belarus "Theft." -0-
