Vitebsk region schoolchildren planted 2.3 thousand apple trees in memory of the Victory
The labor action started on April 23. During this time, over 2.3 thousand fruit and some other trees have been planted in the districts and cities of the region. In the Liozno district, lilac bushes and rowan trees will bloom next to the apple trees. And today, the action reached Vitebsk: an apple alley has appeared on the territory of secondary school No. 46 in the new Bilevo microdistrict.
"Together with 20 members of the regional and city youth chambers, the leadership of the regional and city Councils of Deputies, activists of the BRSM, representatives of the regional organization of the Red Cross, and students of the school are participating in the laying of the alley. The leadership of the SPC "Olgovskoye" provided seedlings, which was very helpful. Many caring people joined us throughout the region, which is symbolic, as the Victory was also forged by the whole world," emphasized the chairman of the regional youth chamber Kirill Stoyakov.
Vitebsk Secondary School No. 46 was chosen for the event not by chance. There is a tradition of planting trees by graduating classes here - over five years, an entire alley of birches and thujas has already been laid, which may turn into a small park in the future. And next to it, there will be a fruit garden. The labor action of the "Flowers of the Great Victory" project in the Vitebsk region will end on May 9.
Several more events are planned in Orsha and other settlements. For Victory Day, as Kirill Stoyakov assured, members of youth chambers will also be among the first in actions to help veterans, at rallies and solemn processions.
The "Flowers of Victory Day" project was launched in the year of the 70th anniversary of Victory Day on the initiative of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union with the aim of strengthening the unity of the people and to pay tribute to the valor and courage of the heroes who fought for the freedom of their native land during the war years. The symbol of the project is a composition consisting of apple blossoms and a red-green ribbon. Apple blossoms embody the unbreakable connection of generations and sincere gratitude to the warrior-heroes who gave their descendants the opportunity to live and work peacefully, and also, as in the memorable May of 1945, to sincerely rejoice in blooming gardens - a symbol of new peaceful victories of sovereign Belarus.
