Students of the Vitebsk region took patronage over the Great Patriotic War veterans of the region
April 23, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. All participants of the Great Patriotic War living in the Vitebsk region, which is over 10,000 people, are covered by the care and attention of schoolchildren, reported the head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Ivan Shchurok, to a BELTA correspondent.
The Timur movement is actively developing to provide patronage assistance. Under the guidance of teachers, children organize themselves into mixed-age detachments that provide patronage assistance to veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War, and former child prisoners. Such formations operate in every region of the area. For example, in the Senno district, 154 detachments have been created, with a total of 514 schoolchildren who help 193 veterans living there. Patronage is not limited to helping the elderly with household chores or in the garden. Children gladly communicate with veterans, record their memories, and do not forget about important holidays and dates for these people. Lonely participants of the past war are surrounded by special attention and care.
Meetings between schoolchildren and veterans within educational institutions during thematic round tables, campaigns, and various festive events have become traditional.
It is noteworthy that the Timur movement in the region is constantly growing, with more and more students joining this process. The voluntary and active participation of children in the lives of veterans indicates that the younger generation realizes the significance of their heroic deeds, despite all attempts to rewrite history, Ivan Shchurok noted. -0-
