School supplies can be purchased with discounts and in installments at retail organizations in Belarus

This was announced today to journalists by Nina Pashko, Head of the Department for the Organization of the Consumer Market of Non-Food Goods of the Ministry of Trade, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. According to her, retail organizations are currently holding various promotions aimed at increasing sales of school supplies. In particular, in the GUM department store in the capital, when purchasing such goods for more than Br300 thousand, citizens can use interest-free credit, the Nemiga department store offers a 15% discount on these goods, with additional discounts available during the first and last hour of the store's operation. Special conditions apply to large families. Similar promotions are also held in other stores in Belarusian cities, including rural areas, as the income level of rural residents is significantly lower than in cities. In total, as of early August, retail organizations in Belarus received over 500 thousand units of school clothing, which is 6% more than in 2008, over 260 thousand knitwear items, and 207 thousand pairs of school shoes. At the same time, according to Nina Pashko, the Ministry of Trade does not predict a sharp decline in demand for school supplies in the current crisis year. She also reported that this year the same high level of sales of school supplies is expected as in 2008. Nina Pashko noted that more than 7.5 thousand retail outlets are involved in the sale of school supplies in Belarus. School fairs have been organized throughout the country since July 15, more than 2 thousand exhibitions and fairs, fashion shows of clothing and footwear have been held, and additional points of sale for school supplies have been opened. In addition, from August 22 to 30, during the period of most active sales of these products, the "To Our Children" exhibition will be held, within the framework of which a specialized exhibition "Hello, School!" will be organized. -0-
