The Swedish association plans to create internet access centers in the Vitebsk region
December 13, Minsk /Andrei Asfura - BELTA/. The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) plans to implement a project in the Vitebsk region to create 4 information centers. This was announced today to journalists by the coordinator of the Swedish-Belarusian local self-government development project in Belarus, Alexander Pirogov, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent.
Information centers are planned to be created, in particular, in such settlements as Disna and Perebrodye (Miory district), as well as Bocheykovo (Beshenkovichi district). It is planned to organize the centers directly in the city councils and village councils.
The main goal of the project is to enable residents of settlements to learn computer skills and solve personal problems using modern information technologies. In particular, through them, rural residents will be able to use public services, which are expected to be available through the Unified portal of public services this year.
"Our goal is to make government accessible to people, so that their problems are solved easily and simply," explained Alexander Pirogov. "The e-government concept allows us to do just that."
By the end of 2011, representatives of the Swedish association plan to prepare a draft concept for the development of the Vitebsk region, which will reflect the initiative to create 4 information centers.
The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) represents the interests of state, professional, and corporate structures in 290 municipalities, 18 county councils, and two self-governing regions of the country. In addition, the association implements dozens of projects in various countries around the world, thereby supporting the policy of improving local representation systems in other states. One of the association's goals is to create favorable conditions for the development of local and regional self-government. -0-
