The alarm helped prevent a fire in a workers' dormitory in Vitebsk

Thanks to the automatic fire alarm and autonomous fire detector, a fire was prevented in the dormitory of the Vitebsk sewing factory "Znamya Industrializatsii", the press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando, told a BELTA correspondent. The cause of the incident on the 4th floor of the 9-story dormitory was a washing machine that was running but left unattended. As it was established, the fire occurred as a result of a short circuit. Thanks to the automatic fire alarm, some rooms on the floor were de-energized, and the autonomous fire detector alerted the owner and neighbors about the incident with its signal. By the time the rescuers arrived, the residents had even managed to take the first measures to extinguish the fire. The timely signals allowed timely measures to be taken to extinguish the fire and avoid the evacuation of residents. As Marina Fando noted, since the beginning of the current year, this is the third case where fire alarms have helped to avoid significant material damage and, most importantly, loss of life in places with a large concentration of people. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, all places with a large concentration of people in the region are equipped with fire alarm systems. -0-
