The strongest volunteer fire brigade operates at the Gomel branch of RUP "Belorusneft".

The voluntary fire brigade of the Gomel branch of RUP "Belorusneft" won the XI Republican Tournament among volunteer fire brigades in fire and rescue sports, which concluded today in Novopolotsk. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the propaganda and training center at the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department. The fire brigade of Gomel oil workers, in a tough competition, outdid the teams of TPP-4 (Minsk) and RUP "Vitebskenergo", which took second and third places respectively. The Gomel team showed the best result in overcoming the 100-meter obstacle course and the 4x100m fire relay, and also took second place in the combat deployment from a motor pump, losing only to the capital's energy team. In total, the tournament was attended by volunteer fire brigades from RUP "Vitebskenergo", TPP-4 (Minsk), OJSC "Belkard" (Grodno), Gomel branches of RUP "Belorusneft" and OJSC "Beltransgaz", OJSC "Brest Meat Processing Plant", OJSC "Mogilevkhimvolokno" and Borisov Grain Processing Plant (Minsk region), which won at the regional qualifying stages of the competition. The teams competed for supremacy in three program events. The main goals of the traditional tournament are to popularize and develop the activities of volunteer fire brigades, improve the professional and sports skills of members of voluntary fire brigades, and attract the public to engage in applied sports aimed at preparing for actions in emergency situations and assisting people affected by emergencies. The Republican State Public Association "Belarusian Voluntary Fire Society", the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, and Belgosstrakh were the organizers of the competition. -0-
