A system of measures to achieve projected economic indicators has been developed in the Vitebsk region

The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has developed a set of measures to achieve the projected socio-economic development indicators for the region in the first half of 2009, the first deputy chairman of the regional executive committee's economy committee, Svyatoslav Zarovsky, told a BELTA correspondent. The growth rate of industrial production in comparable prices in January-June of the current year compared to the same period last year should be 113.5%. Specific tasks have been set for enterprises to achieve this indicator. In particular, Naftan OJSC is to additionally produce more than 350 thousand tons of technical solvent and 390 thousand tons of low-sulfur marine fuel. An economic effect of Br1.5 billion is expected at the Vitebsk confectionery factory "Vitba" from the commissioning of a line for the production of wafer rolls with a capacity of 250 tons per year. Gluboksky Cannery OJSC is to master new types of products. Production of sweet corn and vegetable mixes will begin in the first half of the year. According to estimates, this will provide an economic effect of Br840 million. Along with mastering new types of products, enterprises are tasked with developing new sales markets. Orsha Meat Canning Plant intends to start supplying canned meat to Azerbaijan. Participation in international fairs and visits of foreign entrepreneurs to familiarize themselves with the potential of Vitebsk manufacturers will also contribute to the development of foreign economic activity. An investment forum is planned to be held in the region in July. The system of measures to increase retail trade turnover provides for holding 400 fairs and 120 seasonal sales of goods in the regional center and district centers. Trade enterprises will expand the practice of selling goods to the population on installment plans. At the same time, the main task of trade will be the sale of goods from domestic manufacturers. The growth of paid services will be facilitated by the expansion of their list. Along with tourism, physical culture and sports services will become more widespread. Taebo, port de bras, and aquafitness groups will appear in Vitebsk and Orsha. According to operational results for January-April of the current year, the growth rate of production volume in comparable prices is over 110%. -0-
