The system of remote work is being revived in the Vitebsk region

June 29, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The system of home-based work is being revived in the Vitebsk region, Mikhail Leshchinsky, Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. This joint project of the committee and the department of household services for the population is aimed at supporting and rehabilitating disabled people. The department of household services offers to organize home-based work on repairing household appliances and footwear. As Mikhail Leshchinsky emphasized, the goal is not only to provide jobs for disabled people but also to expand the range of services in demand by the population. Currently, household service enterprises are carrying out organizational work with disabled people to create jobs at home. It is expected that within a month, the first home-based workers will start providing services to the population. As Mikhail Leshchinsky noted, the region annually establishes job quotas for disabled people. In accordance with the recommendations of medical and rehabilitation expert commissions, 1,190 disabled people have been employed, including more than 700 people in quota jobs. During the state program for the prevention and rehabilitation of disabled people for 2006-2010, 82 jobs were created in the Vitebsk region specifically for people with physical disabilities, and employers were compensated for the costs of purchasing equipment intended for disabled people to work, totaling over Br800 million. Free premises are provided to the public association "Belarusian Association of Disabled People" for the placement of enterprises and production development. Currently, the association operates 7 enterprises in Vitebsk, Gluboksky, and Rossony districts. At the same time, enterprises, citing difficult financial and economic conditions, do not show interest in hiring disabled people for their vocational rehabilitation. While 79 disabled people underwent vocational rehabilitation in 2007, only 24 did so in 2008. Meanwhile, financial opportunities allowed for more, Mikhail Leshchinsky stated. Br894.8 million has been allocated for the professional and vocational rehabilitation of disabled people over the three years of the state program for the prevention of disability and rehabilitation of disabled people. -0-
