A "Friendship Bench" will appear in Polotsk to commemorate the long-standing partnership with Friedrichshafen

"Friendship Bench of Polotsk and Friedrichshafen" will appear in the Belarusian city to commemorate the 25th anniversary of partnership relations between the settlements of Belarus and Germany. The new urban environment object will be opened in Polotsk on August 28. The handmade bench, styled in an antique manner, was made by the team of OAO "Tekhnolit Polotsk" with the financial support of the German side and will be installed near the memorial sign "Polotsk - Geographical Center of Europe," as reported by the press service of the Polotsk District Executive Committee. The manufacturers assure that the bench is one of a kind and has no analogues in the world.

Polotsk already has objects testifying to the friendship of the cities. For example, the "Friedrichshafen" store operates in the Aeroport microdistrict, near which a memorial sign was erected 5 years ago in honor of the 20th anniversary of partnership relations with the inscription "Friendship Connects Us." The Alley of Friendship, consisting of 40 trees, has also been planted here.

The opening of the friendship bench will be one of the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of partnership relations between Belarusian Polotsk and German Friedrichshafen, which will take place in Polotsk from August 28 to 30. A representative German delegation (about 50 people) led by the Ober-Burgomaster of the Friedrichshafen administration, Andreas Brand, is expected in the Belarusian city. An official reception of the German delegation by the chairman of the District Executive Committee, Nikolai Shevchuk, is scheduled for August 28. On the same day, joint projects of Polotsk and Friedrichshafen will be presented, an investment opportunities presentation for Polotsk and Polotsk District will be organized, and a press conference of the leadership of the District Executive Committee and representatives of the German delegation will be held.

The program also includes an evening of friendship "In the Circle of Friends," during which the best representatives of the partner community will be awarded diplomas and commendations for their active work in establishing and developing twin-city relations.

A German delegation will visit industrial enterprises and educational institutions of Polotsk district (OJSC "Polotsk Dairy Plant", RUPP "Vitebskhlebprom" Polotsk Bakery, PU "Polotskgaz", UP "Polotskvodokanal", Educational Institution "Polotsk State University", Polotsk College of "VSU named after P.M. Masherov", Educational Institution "Polotsk State Gymnasium №2", State Educational Institution "Kindergarten №32").

As noted in the press service, the long-term fruitful cooperation between the cities is reinforced by the implementation of joint projects in various fields. The construction of the "Zaozerie" water intake, assistance to city utility services, humanitarian support for citizens in need are just some of the aspects of partnership support from friends from the twin city. Currently, projects such as "Assistance to children with diabetes mellitus", "Revelation", "Vitamins for sick and weakened children of Polotsk" and others are being implemented. The German side actively cooperates with Polotsk public organizations.
