The speed on the M1 highway from Orsha to the border with the Minsk region is temporarily limited to 90 km/h

The speed on the M1 highway from Orsha to the border with the Minsk region is temporarily limited to 90 km/h due to adverse weather conditions, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Adam Konoplich, General Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise of Highways "Vitebskavtodor".

Heavy snowfall is currently occurring over the southern part of the region in the Orsha and Sennensky districts, as well as in Begoml and Lepel. According to weather forecasters, snowfall and blizzards in the Vitebsk region will only intensify by evening. In this regard, "Vitebskavtodor" has dispatched about 100 units of equipment to clear republican roads. According to Adam Konoplich, "the road situation, although difficult, is under control".

Due to adverse weather conditions, traffic police officers have intensified control over road traffic safety, reported Olesya Seregina, Head of the Agitation and Propaganda Department of the Traffic Police Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate. Additional crews formed from the traffic police department's staff have been dispatched to assist their colleagues from inter-district and city traffic police departments. The State Automobile Inspectorate monitors not only traffic flow but also the timeliness of road clearing and treatment with anti-icing agents.

The Traffic Police Department urges drivers to limit their travel if possible and postpone their trips until the weather improves.
