"Slavianski Bazaar" has written the second volume of its history
July 12, Vitebsk /Corr. BELTA/. The second volume of the history of the international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" was presented today at the festival's press center. The reference and encyclopedic publication "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. The Second Decade" was prepared by the festival's directorate for the 20th anniversary of the renowned arts celebration, as reported by BELTA correspondent.
The book contains detailed information about the festival from 2001 to 2010. It includes festival programs, the names of concert participants, and the director-production teams that worked at the festival, as well as mini-interviews with its participants.
The first volume of the festival's history was published in 2001 and was dedicated to its first decade. As noted by the Honored Worker of Culture of Belarus, General Director of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center, Director of the International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", and Vice-President of the International Federation of Festival Organizations (FIDOF) Rodion Bass, "when we published this book, we had little hope that a second volume would appear, but today I am convinced that a third volume of the festival's history will be published in ten years."
Along with the second volume of its history, the festival directorate prepared two more publications for the anniversary: the photo album "Through Art to Peace and Mutual Understanding" and a bibliographic index that collects references to all publications about the festival that have ever appeared in newspapers, magazines, and almanacs.
In honor of the anniversary, 100 special medals "20 Years of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" were minted by order of the festival directorate. They were awarded to those who, according to Rodion Bass, "created the history of the festival, invested their souls and energy into it." Among the awardees are the permanent host of the main festival concerts Elena Spiridovich, the long-time host of "Star Hours" Viktor Tatarsky, artist and composer Konstantin Moskovich, directors and producers of festival concerts and competitions, and journalists.
Anniversary medals were also presented to BELTA photo correspondent Alexander Khitrov and Deputy Editor of the Regional Information Department Diana Kurilo.-0-
