"Slavianski Bazaar" will be held in the format of a cultural Olympiad

The XXV International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will be held in the format of a cultural olympiad. This was announced at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by Larisa Olenskaya, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee.

Speaking about the preparation and holding of the anniversary forum, Larisa Olenskaya emphasized that the concept of the current "Slavianski Bazaar" is based on the theme of the festival's 25th anniversary and the positioning of Belarus as a center of attraction for the creative forces of the world's peoples.

"In this regard, it is planned to hold the festival in the format of a cultural olympiad, meaning a maximum number of participating countries, types and directions of creative activity," noted the Deputy Head of the Main Department.

The olympiad theme will be supported on the day of the official opening of the festival (July 14), when a theatrical parade of participants and guests of "Slavianski Bazaar", brass bands and drum corps, creative groups of the Vitebsk region, and media representatives will take place along the central street of the city.

The parade will start from Lenin Square and finish near the Summer Amphitheater, where the solemn ceremony of raising the festival flag will take place. A special flagpole will be installed for it (next to the flagpoles on which the flags of the participating countries are mounted for the duration of the forum). During the festival in Vitebsk, events will be held,

dedicated to outstanding figures of Belarusian culture. For example, one of the festival days will be held under the sign of the 75th anniversary of People's Artist of the USSR Vladimir Muliavin. Exhibitions from the collections of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, dedicated to Maxim Bogdanovich, Kondrat Krapiwa, Ivan Shamyakin and other writers, will be organized in libraries and museums. A documentary film dedicated to the anniversary of the festival itself, reflecting the history of the forum, will be presented. The premiere of the film will take place in festival Vitebsk. The XXV International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will be held from July 14 to 18 (additional events are planned for July 12-13 and 19-20).
