The "Slavianski Bazaar" passed peacefully for Vitebsk law enforcement officers
July 18, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The festival events of "Slavianski Bazaar" passed calmly for the law enforcement officers of Vitebsk, the department of information and public relations of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
The XX International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" was held from July 8 to 14. To ensure public order, about 1.4 thousand police officers and servicemen of the internal troops went on duty daily. About 400 police officers and servicemen were on duty directly in the area of the Summer Amphitheater. As in previous years, an operational reserve of employees was provided for unforeseen emergency situations. Public law and order protection points operated around the clock during these days.
The new video surveillance system installed this year helped law enforcement officers to ensure the peace and safety of citizens at a higher level. Images from more than 60 video cameras installed in the central part of the city and on adjacent streets were displayed on monitors in the operational duty service department of the Internal Affairs Directorate. In addition, an autonomous video surveillance system of 30 video cameras operated in the Summer Amphitheater. Similar systems are installed in some restaurants, cafes, and other entertainment venues in the city.
Nine checkpoints operated at the entrance to the Summer Amphitheater. At the same time, traffic in the central part of the city was not blocked during the concerts. The traffic police officers worked so smoothly that no traffic jams were formed, and it was comfortable for everyone to move: both pedestrians and motorists.
It is noteworthy that the number of calls to the 102 line (mainly about administrative offenses) did not increase during the festival. "This is largely due to the increased density of patrols," the Internal Affairs Directorate noted, adding that in most cases, victims did not even call the police, but approached the officers themselves with their troubles.-0-
