The Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk presented a new program

That's How the Stars Aligned
This year, the main musical highlight of July – the International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" – will continue to attract talents and fans from all corners of the planet. The forum will be held from July 16 to 20. The organizers of the celebration made a wise decision not to cancel the festival, but to hold it in a new format. For example, for the first time, all events of the forum will take place not in the auditorium, but on outdoor venues. Another piece of news: young performers – participants of the children's "bazaar" – will sing twice a day, and the second part of the adult competition will be combined with the closing ceremony.

The Celebration Moves Outdoors

Let's start with the main thing. There will be no closed venues – the Yakub Kolas Drama Theater, the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall, the "Lyalka" Theater, the Regional Philharmonic, and many others – for the first time. All activities have been moved outdoors. A new modern stage with LED screens and fashionable stage designs will appear near the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. Performances by participants of the children's competition will be held here. The venues on Victory Square, in the "philharmonic courtyard," and near the "Lyalka" Theater will also not be idle: artists of the "Na Semi Vetrakh" festival and young performers will entertain guests there. The festival Vitebsk will also have a new location – Mazurino Park, where, among other activities, the Holi color festival is planned. Minister of Culture Yuri Bondar is confident:
— This year, "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will become, without exaggeration, the largest open-air festival in Europe. Because it is not limited to the territory of any single place or district. It is the territory of an entire city!

Seven large-scale events are planned on the stage of the Summer Amphitheater – the main musical symbol of "Slavianski Bazaar." These include the competition for young performers, the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival, the traditional concert "The Union State Invites...", as well as popular music projects "Golden Hit," "Shanson TV: All Stars," and "Rock for All Time." In the latter concert, among others, we expect the bands "Chizh & Co," "Vopli Vidopliassova," Alexander Ivanov, and his project on stage.«Rondo», as well as Vadim Samoilov from «Agata Kristi». However, the solo performances previously announced by the directorate had to be canceled. At the same time, most of the favorite artists from Russia, Ukraine, and other countries will perform in joint concerts.

Festival Without Borders

Young performers will also come to Vitebsk: the adult and children's vocal competitions remain in the festival program. 21 performers from 21 countries will take part in the children's "bazaar," respectively. 18 artists will participate in the adult competition. As for logistics and the possibility of entering the territory of Belarus, the festival directorate has been working intensively on this issue for a month, says the forum director Gleb Lapitsky:
— The advantage is that we, as festival organizers, are not alone. "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" is an event of state level, we cooperate with all structures: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture. Naturally, we also react to events happening outside of Belarus and monitor the epidemiological situation worldwide. Of course, normal border crossing is not possible everywhere. In some cases, exclusive agreements with other states are necessary. All these issues are currently being worked out with the departments of the countries from which guests will come to us.

Minister of Culture Yuri Bondar believes that it would be unfair to deprive young artists, who have won the right to represent their country at the young performers' competition in Vitebsk in their homeland, of the opportunity to come and perform on the stage of the Summer Amphitheater:

— That is precisely why the competitions – children's and adult – will definitely take place. We also cannot let down the audience, betray their expectations. During all the time that organizational issues were being resolved, no more than 70 tickets were returned. This indicates that people are waiting for "Slavianski Bazaar" and their favorite performers.

And Who Are the Judges?

The jury of the young performers' competition at "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will be headed by Oleg Gazmanov. From our country, Honored Artist Inna Afanasyeva will join him as part of the judging panel. Belarusian-Norwegian Alexander Rybak, Belgian performer Kate Ryan (representinghis country at "Eurovision-2006"), People's Artist of Georgia Vakhtang Kikabidze, as well as Slovak singer Ladislav Bubnar – a finalist of the sixth season of Russian "The Voice", who is called the second Karel Gott. The jury members will start their work on July 18 – on this day, a semi-final called "World Hit" will take place. In the second part of the concert, the German heartthrob, ex-soloist of the cult group Modern Talking, Thomas Anders, will perform.

The jury of the children's competition will be headed by another favorite of the fair sex – Alexander Solodukha. By the way, this season the international children's music competition "Vitebsk-2020" will be held in an unusual format, notes the festival director Gleb Lapitsky:

— If earlier we spread the semi-finals over different calendar days, then this year both parts of the competition will take place on the same day, July 18. At 14:00, on the site in front of the Vitebsk Concert Hall, young artists will perform a song in their native language and, necessarily, by a composer from their country. And at 18:00, they will return to the same site with a song of their choice. The hosts of the concert will be Ksenia Galetskaya, a graduate of the "Spamash" production center and the winner of last year's Grand Prix, and showman Ivan Vabishchevich.
For fans of "Slavianski Bazaar", the festival directorate has prepared a promotion "2+9=11". In case of replacement of purchased tickets for canceled events, a 11 percent DISCOUNT is provided for tickets of the updated program. The promotion is valid simultaneously for purchases by individuals and legal entities and for any payment method.

Main Theme

The director of the opening ceremony, Alexander Vavilov, announced the main theme of the evening concert on July 16. It is based on the musical story "I Love You, Life".

— One cannot remain indifferent to the times we are living in now. There is nothing more important than life. When I approached the artists, no one refused to come, all the previously announced figures will take part in the opening ceremony. And our musical story is about life, which must go on and win. And all this is through the language of the best songs and performers who will gather on the stage of the Summer Amphitheater on July 16. Plus the best design, video content, and innovations that are available atstaging group.

The director of the closing ceremony of the festival, Marina Romanovskaya, in turn, continued:

— Many things will be for the first time. Even I, for example, will be involved in the young performers' competition for the first time. The most important innovation is that we have combined the closing ceremony with the second day of the "Slavyansky Hit" young performers' competition. This has been done taking into account that next year "Slavyansky Bazaar" will celebrate its 30th anniversary. And we want to recall its main milestones, songs, names, happy moments together with the audience... Also for the first time, the Presidential Orchestra of Belarus, conducted by Vitaly Kulbakov, will perform on stage at the festival's closing ceremony. And of course, beloved and long-awaited artists will perform: Thomas Anders, Oleg Gazmanov, Lolita, Sasha Nemo, Tina Karol, Alexander Solodukha, Vakhtang Kikabidze, Varvara in a duet with a new young performer. All this will organically lead all of us — those who love "Slavyansky Bazaar" — to an important anniversary date.
