Investigators established the guilt of the offender against the controller on a Novopolotsk bus
Investigators found the offender guilty in the incident with the controller in Novopolotsk, and considered the controller's actions lawful, Vladimir Shalukhin, head of the Investigative Committee of Belarus for the Vitebsk region, announced today at a press conference, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The case of violence against the controller of a Novopolotsk bus is nearing completion and will soon be transferred to the prosecutor's office, and then sent to court. Investigators have established that on November 26, 2012, a man born in 1984 committed unlawful actions against the female controller, which fall under Article 366 of the Criminal Code "Violence or threat against an official performing official duties, or another person performing public duty." As reported, the man attacked the female controller because she demanded that a passenger pay a fine for fare evasion. The controller herself applied to the internal affairs bodies with a statement about the attack.
Based on the studied recordings of the incident, including those that appeared on the Internet, investigators concluded that the controller committed no unlawful acts, let alone crimes. The head of the department added that the suspect has not yet apologized to the victim, although he admitted the illegality of his actions.
According to Vladimir Shalukhin, such medieval methods of retribution are unacceptable in a lawful society. "If you see violations on the part of an official, contact their employer, or, ultimately, post the recording on the Internet. Try to influence through legal methods, but committing a crime is not allowed," he emphasized.
