Slovakia sees Vitebsk region as a priority partner
Slovakia sees Vitebsk region as a priority partner. This was stated today at the opening of the V International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects" in Vitebsk by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Belarus, Jozef Migash.
"Guided by the principle of 'less is more,' it is best to work through 2-3 projects and implement them specifically and purposefully. We intend to do serious business here. The Vitebsk region is one of our priorities. Sanctions against Belarus have been lifted, and now we need to work to ensure this space is not a vacuum. I think other EU countries will also understand that the best approach is peaceful and concrete trade and economic cooperation. This is necessary not only for Belarus but also for our countries, and very much so," stated Jozef Migash with confidence.
In the last three months, the diplomat has visited the Vitebsk region for the third time. First, there was a meeting with the governor, where promising areas for breakthrough innovative projects were identified, after which Jozef Migash personally visited collective and state farms to see where a joint venture for cattle breeding could be organized.
"Currently, our specialists are working on calculations. Cooperation in the woodworking industry is also being explored – installing a new plant or technological line. In the energy sector, we are working on a project to build a hydroelectric power station on the Western Dvina River and other similar small and medium-sized facilities. In Orsha, we are working on a joint venture – a plant for processing electrical and energy waste. We will be opening it next year," added the ambassador.
In conclusion, Jozef Migash invited everyone to the Slovak Days in Vitebsk from July 12-14, which include cultural events, discussions on tourism cooperation, and an economic forum. The V International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects" is taking place in Vitebsk on May 12-13. Its business program includes a contact and cooperation exchange, signing of cooperation agreements, the international scientific and practical conference "Energy Resource Saving-2016," and work of the sections.and "SEZ - a priority form of attracting foreign investment in the economy" and the workshop "The Life-Giving Power of Breathing" - a joint project of the Research Institute of Health Nutrition YANG-SHEN (PRC) and the Department of Medical Rehabilitation of Vitebsk Medical University.
