This was announced to a BELTA correspondent by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Belarus Marian Servatka. "Our countries need to strengthen the exchange of information on investment projects proposed for implementation, as well as cultural and tourism offers," the diplomat said. In his opinion, this will be one of the most effective measures to increase Belarusian-Slovak trade. Slovakia is interested in developing cooperation with Belarus in all areas - from cultural exchange to joint economic projects. Evidence of this is the steady growth of mutual trade, the volume of which has quadrupled over the past four to five years and amounted to $301 million in 2008. The Ambassador also emphasized that in the context of the global financial crisis, it is necessary to think not only about the implementation of new investment projects, but also about how to preserve existing production facilities and not work for stock. Therefore, the Slovak Embassy is preparing relevant proposals regarding the joint work of Belarus and Slovakia in the current difficult conditions. -0-
