Cases of tick-borne borreliosis are registered in all regions of the republic
Specialists have registered 9 cases of tick-borne encephalitis and 164 cases of tick-borne borreliosis, contracted this season. This is reported by the Republican Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.
Cases of tick-borne encephalitis have been registered in the Brest, Grodno, and Vitebsk regions. Cases of tick-borne borreliosis are registered in all regions of the republic and in Minsk.
The number of ticks this year, according to entomological monitoring, remains quite high.
Due to the seasonal increase in the number of vectors in natural biotopes and the active visits of the population to forest areas in May, 5037 people, including 1754 children, sought medical attention for tick bites, which is 22% less than in the same period last year.
Ticks begin to show their activity when the air temperature rises above 5 degrees Celsius. With increasing temperature, their activity increases, reaching a maximum in May-June. Mild winters and wet summers contribute to their increased numbers in nature.
