The Vitebsk region employment service plans to employ over 4,000 pupils and students during the summer

With the start of summer holidays, the temporary employment of young students is under special control.

During the summer period, many schoolchildren and students will not only be able to rest but also get the opportunity to find employment and earn money. Traditionally, in all regions of the oblast, the employment service assists young people with jobs during the summer holidays. This year, more than 4,000 pupils and students are planned to be employed from June to August.

Young people are offered work in landscaping and improvement of the territories of educational institutions and social service institutions, repair of educational furniture, restoration of library book collections, production of sewing and souvenir products, etc.

For the purpose of organizing temporary employment for pupils and students during the summer period, as of 08.06.2022, the employment service has concluded 245 agreements with employers using funds allocated for financing employment promotion measures. Educational institutions of the departments for education of district executive committees, secondary vocational educational institutions, territorial centers for social services of the population, and boarding schools of the oblast act as organizers of temporary employment at the expense of the budget of the state extra-budgetary social protection fund of the population of the Republic of Belarus. Young people from incomplete, large, low-income families, and minors registered with commissions and inspectorates for juvenile affairs are given priority for temporary employment.

 

By the summer period, the employment service had compiled lists of organizations ready to hire young people. As of 08.06.2022, the list contains information about 177 employers ready to hire young students. The main types of work offered by organizations include landscaping and cleaning of territories, field, auxiliary, repair and construction work, trade, weeding vegetables and planting forest crops, work at grain receiving points and in children's health camps. Employers from all districts of the oblast have provided 1430 additional jobs and vacancies for

employment of youth in June – September 2022.

The list of organizations is updated weekly by employment service specialists and was posted on the portal of the State Employment Service and on the websites of local authorities.

As of 08.06.2022, 1236 young citizens were employed in additionally created jobs, and 120 people from the list of organizations ready to hire students, as well as those who applied for employment assistance directly to the employment service, were employed at the expense of employers.

Information for students and their legal representatives about the opportunities and ways of employment during their free time, about the specifics of formalizing labor relations with minors, about issues of working hours, and remuneration is constantly provided through mass media, social networks, as well as on information boards of educational institutions, labor, employment and social protection departments of city/district executive committees, websites of city/district executive committees, electronic information displays "running line" located in public places and retail outlets.
