Media should be interested in people's pressing problems - A. Kosinets
May 7, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Media should be interested in pressing human problems to help authorities solve them. This point of view was expressed today at a meeting with representatives of the media of the Vitebsk region on the occasion of the professional holidays of the Day of the Press and the Day of Radio and Television Workers by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports.
The media take an active part in the socio-economic development of the region, providing the population of the region with reliable and objective information about the ongoing processes, and create a positive image of the region outside its borders, the governor emphasized. At the same time, he considers one of the most important tasks of local newspapers and television to be the coverage of problems of people's lives. Moreover, the role of the media should not be reduced only to relaying: identification of causes, analysis and proposal of solutions are necessary. "The journalistic word must be objective and truthful," Alexander Kosinets stressed.
Among the pressing problems that concern the residents of the region, to which journalists should pay more attention, the governor named wages and prices. He noted that wage growth should be directly dependent on the growth of labor productivity and quality. "You can earn good money in Vitebsk region, but for this you need to work," the chairman of the regional executive committee emphasized. In his opinion, construction organizations work without strain, despite the large volumes of work. And out of 1051 units of equipment involved in the current sowing, only 600 units work in two shifts, which does not contribute to wage growth. Price increases are caused by objective reasons - the need to equalize them in the Single Economic Space, Alexander Kosinets explained.
The chairman of the regional executive committee also expressed concern about the state of demographic security in the region, the development of business and entrepreneurship. These and other problems should be at the center of journalists' attention, he noted.
During the meeting with media workers, the traditional honoring of the best editorial offices, television companies and journalists of the region took place. -0-
