April 2, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Students of Smolensk State University will be honored guests of the XI Festival of Student Creativity "Hit Parade 2009" starting today at Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, the university's educational department informed a BELTA correspondent.
This year's forum is dedicated to the Year of the Native Land and will be held under the motto "Land under White Wings". The jury will be presented with competition programs from 13 creative teams from all faculties of the university, as well as from Polotsk and Orsha colleges, which are part of the university structure. The participants' performances are limited only by time – within 50 minutes, they must try to present the creative potential of the faculties as fully and as talented as possible.
The best team will receive the symbolic "Festival Bird" as a challenge prize. In addition, prize-winners of the festival, as well as the best participants in more than 20 creative nominations, will be awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
Traditionally, the festival program includes a number of non-competitive events. Teachers and staff of the university will be able to showcase their creative achievements during the concert "Stars of Great Magnitude". Chinese and Turkmen students studying at the Vitebsk university will participate in the performance "Round Dance of Friendship" along with Belarusian students. During the festival, the fourth university student photography contest "Vitebsk: Unexpected Angle" will be held.
The award ceremony and gala concert of the forum's laureates and diploma winners will take place on April 14.
The main goals of the festival are to introduce youth to the values of Belarusian and world artistic culture, to reveal the creative potential of students, as well as to improve the forms and methods of their aesthetic education and leisure organization.
