Smolensk dancers arrived in Vitebsk to learn Scottish dances
October 23, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Dancers from Smolensk have come to Vitebsk to learn Scottish dances, the Vitebsk Culture Center told a BELTA correspondent.
Amateurs of exotic dances from Grodno, Minsk, Polotsk, Orsha, and Vitebsk itself are also participating in the master class along with the dancers from Smolensk. The attention to these classes is explained by the fact that the lessons are given by the only teacher in the CIS who passed professional exams in Scotland at the Association of Professional Teachers of Dance of Great Britain.
The master class program in Vitebsk is designed not only for those who have been engaged in this choreography for a long time but also for beginners. It is worth noting that along with the checkered kilt, bagpipes, and whiskey, Scottish dances are a hallmark of Scotland. International competitions are even held in them.
By the way, Vitebsk does not forget about the development of national traditions. A master class on Belarusian folk dances was recently held at the Lyalka Puppet Theater. According to the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, 26 centers of authentic culture have been established in the region. The project "Dance Folklore and Children" is being implemented in the region, and clubs and groups for archaic singing, rituals, and traditions are being created. -0-
