Vehicles deregistered in Belarus are subject to customs clearance when imported into Russia

15:05:09 19/4 RKO, RO, F, SAVI / 81 April 19, Moscow / Eduard Pivovar - BELTA/. Vehicles deregistered in Belarus are subject to customs clearance when imported into Russia. This is stated in a letter from the Federal Customs Service of Russia No. 04-30/13941, distributed by the BELTA correspondent. The letter notes that after the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the temporary import and export of vehicles dated February 24, 2010, came into force, there has been an increase in the number of cases of detection of vehicles belonging to Belarusian citizens, which are deregistered in Belarus and are imported into the territory of Russia by their owners for sale. The FCS draws attention to the fact that the provisions of the agreement do not apply to deregistered vehicles, and such vehicles are subject to customs clearance in the prescribed manner. "In the event of the detection of such vehicles in the customs territory of the Russian Federation, customs clearance should be carried out after conducting verification measures and resolving the issue of imposing a penalty," the letter states. -0-
