The museum collection of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve has been enriched with works by Belarusian artists through funds from the President of the Republic of Belarus Fund for the Support of Culture and Arts, as reported to BelTA by Larisa Lysenko, head of the "Art Gallery" branch of the museum-reserve.

The collection now includes 11 paintings and graphic works, as well as works of decorative and applied arts by renowned Belarusian artists – members of the Belarusian Union of Artists, Honored Artists of Arts, and artists who have made a significant contribution to the development of Belarusian fine arts. Among the authors, Larisa Lysenko named Arlen Kashkurevich, Boris Araksheev, Vladimir Savich, and Sergey Timokhov.

As Larisa Lysenko explained, these works, along with several dozen other pieces, were presented at the exhibition "Belarusian Artists – to Polotsk," dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the ancient city and showcasing the best achievements of domestic masters. After the exhibition, the museum-reserve decided to acquire the most interesting works and applied for support from the President's Fund. The acquired works will be featured in the permanent exhibition of the Art Gallery. The general public will be able to see them starting from the end of February.

Currently, the museum is preparing to submit another application to the President of the Republic of Belarus Fund for the Support of Culture and Arts for the creation of a museum exposition of 18th-19th century wall paintings from the Transfiguration Church. These frescoes were transferred to the museum thanks to restoration work on 12th-century wall paintings conducted in the church. During the restoration, specialists not only uncovered ancient frescoes from the era of Euphrosyne of Polotsk but also transferred later, yet equally valuable, painted works onto canvases, which are intended for museumification.
