Miniature soldiers and equipment - an exhibition of private collections about the war has opened in Vitebsk
The creation of military-historical miniatures and collecting is gaining increasing popularity among modelers and military history enthusiasts in general. Miniatures find fans among people of all ages and professions. The exhibition in Vitebsk features about 100 exhibits from the private collections of Vladimir Udanovsky, Anatoly Shilovich, and Leonid Yalov.
The exhibition can be conditionally divided into two parts: one presents figures of military personnel (scale 1:32), and the second presents military equipment. "The soldier figures allow us to trace the development of equipment and uniforms, including the period before shoulder straps were introduced - from 1941 to 1943. Samples of tanks and automotive equipment, mainly ZIS and GAZ, are also presented. These vehicles were responsible for supplying the Red Army and transporting people," said Denis Yakovlev, chief curator of the Shmyrev Museum's collections.
One of the interesting exhibits at the exhibition is a ZIS truck, which craftsmen converted for railway travel. During the war, this vehicle was used instead of a locomotive and transported ammunition. A miniature snowplow, which cleared the "Road of Life" on Lake Ladoga, can also be seen.
The exhibition "History in Miniature" will be open for a month.-0-
