Solar collectors will be installed on the kindergarten building in Braslav
Solar collectors will be installed on the building of a kindergarten in Braslav, as reported by Dmitry Burenkin, project coordinator for "Braslav District - the First Climate-Neutral Municipality of Belarus" at the Center for Environmental Solutions.
The solar collectors will make it possible to cover almost all of the hot water needs of kindergarten No. 1, at least during the warm season. This will allow heating up to 80% of the water required by the kindergarten using solar energy from April to October. Specialists note that in good sunny weather in Belarus, 10 kWh of energy can be obtained per 1 sq.m. per day.
Collectors are being installed at this preschool educational institution because it operates year-round, unlike schools, the kindergarten does not take summer breaks. During this time of year, it is possible to derive maximum benefit from the equipment, utilizing solar energy at 100%. Installing solar collectors for water heating is an excellent solution for institutions that have seasonal occupancy, primarily in the summer.
"For resort Braslav, this includes, for example, recreation centers, sanatoriums, children's health camps, and agro-tourism estates. They can adopt this solution. For the Braslav district, which promotes itself as a tourist destination and the first climate-neutral region, this is an ideal option. And for the population, it serves as a good demonstration example of using renewable energy at the local level," emphasized Dmitry Burenkin.
The implementation of this idea became possible thanks to the project "Braslav District - the First Climate-Neutral Municipality of Belarus" being carried out in the region. It is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Braslav District Executive Committee and the Center for Environmental Solutions.
