Districts of the Vitebsk region bordering Russia send condolences in connection with the plane crash near Sochi
Today, a delegation from the Liozno district, headed by the chairperson of the district council of deputies, Tamara Drilenok, went to their neighbors in Rudnya (Smolensk region) to convey condolences from the residents. "Almost immediately after the tragedy, people started approaching us with requests: it's difficult to get to the embassy, but at least through our neighbors in the Rudnyansky district, we need to express our condolences and support the Russian people. We have drafted a telegram that we will hand over to the local administration, as well as to the Rudnyanskaya newspaper," explained Tamara Drilenok.
The plane crash occurred on December 25 in the Black Sea. There were 92 people on board, including artists of the Alexandrov Ensemble, journalists, and crew members. None of them survived. Vitebsk has a special connection with the Alexandrov Ensemble. It is forever inscribed in the history of the "Slavianski Bazaar" festival. In 2005, the renowned ensemble performed on the stage of the Summer Amphitheater, where they were applauded by the audience at the gala concert of the festival's opening ceremony and the charity concert "Indomitable and Legendary." At the jubilee XXV International Arts Festival, the ensemble performed at the opening ceremony gala concert and with a solo program at the concert "Union State Invites." The State Institution "Vitebsk Culture Center" - the directorate of the International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" expresses its deepest condolences to the family members of the ensemble's artists and all fans of the Alexandrov Ensemble in Russia, Belarus, and around the world.
