Hundreds of law enforcement officers continue the search for the missing boys in Vitebsk
March 29, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The search for two missing boys, Igorek Galimsky and Vladik Yurov, in Vitebsk has entered its fifth day. Law enforcement agencies are considering all possible scenarios, Alexander Chernyavsky, head of the Zheleznodorozhny District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk, told a BELTA correspondent.
The number of internal affairs officers involved in the search operation for the children numbers in the hundreds. Each police officer is surveying a specific area: all basements, manholes, attics, abandoned buildings, and then submitting a report on the search results. The search radius has been expanded. In addition to the microdistrict where the children live, they are being searched for throughout the city, in suburban villages, dacha communities, and forest belts. Divers are daily searching the bottom of the Western Dvina River, which flows near the homes where the boys live.
Starting today, information about the missing children will be broadcast on large screens installed on Svobody and Pobedy Squares in Vitebsk.
The head of the District Department of Internal Affairs expressed special gratitude to the volunteers who are independently reproducing and posting flyers with descriptions of the boys. "In the search for children, it is important for as many people as possible to know about the incident, so that someone remembers if they have seen anyone similar," emphasized Alexander Chernyavsky. At the same time, law enforcement agencies do not consider it possible to involve volunteers in surveying areas where the children might be. This is due to the volunteers' lack of experience and search equipment. "The search for the schoolchildren does not stop for a minute and will continue until they are found," assured the head of the District Department of Internal Affairs.
The mother of one of the boys hopes that the children have gone on a trip. She wrote about this on her page on the social network "VKontakte". On the same page, she receives messages from those who have seen children with similar descriptions, and many people here express words of support to the unfortunate parents and offer help in the search. Residents of Minsk have responded to the misfortune and are also ready to distribute flyers with descriptions of the missing children throughout the capital. "These four days have turned into one for me... I've been in touch since morning... thank you all again so much... you can't even imagine how important your help is to us...", wrote the mother of Igor Galimsky on her "VKontakte" page yesterday.
As reported, the alert about the disappearance of two children - Galimsky Igor and Yurov Vladislav, born in 2002 and 2003 - was received by the Zheleznodorozhny District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk around 8 p.m. on March 24. According to the parents, the children came home from the gymnasium, went for a walk around 3 p.m., and did not return.
The entire staff of the District Department of Internal Affairs - about 150 people - was immediately put on alert, then the personnel of the Vitebsk garrison of internal affairs joined the search, and the area was also surveyed by helicopter. Their descriptions were sent to all district police departments and handed over to drivers of regular buses. -0-
