Employees of the Senno District Hospital have been living at work for several weeks for success in the fight against COVID-19
Patients of the 29-year-old chief physician of the Sennensk Central District Hospital, Andrey Kakoychenko, love him, and his colleagues respect him. His authority is so great that 15 medics of the Central District Hospital, working with COVID-19 infected patients, agreed to their leader's proposal to temporarily relocate to the hospital to provide more effective assistance to patients and, at the same time, not to put their loved ones at risk.
The chief physician himself is not very talkative in his conversation with the journalist. He says he is simply doing his duty. And he adds that sitting in his office and holding endless meetings is wrong in the current situation. Therefore, he tries to get personally involved everywhere and in everything. He doesn't know how to do it any other way.
— A modern doctor must not only be a professional in their specialization but also possess strong knowledge in related fields, — Andrey Kakoychenko is convinced. — The current epidemiological situation has proven this: almost everyone had to become a pulmonologist. And also a psychologist and a psychotherapist. After all, there are many elderly people among the patients, and before starting treatment, it is necessary to rid them of fear and instill confidence in recovery.
Andrey Kakoychenko has been working as the chief physician of the Sennensk Central District Hospital for about six months. He is from the Liozno district and came here five years ago under the distribution system. He started as a surgeon, then became the head of the surgical department. The promising young leader was noticed, and to keep him in the district, he was offered to head the Central District Hospital. Today, the chairman of the Sennensk District Executive Committee, Igor Moroz, is convinced that the decision was correct. The new chief physician managed to unite the team in mastering advanced methods, technologies, and equipment. He actively involves proactive colleagues in working in the district. The example of the medical staff's relocation is indicative in this regard.
— When the first cases of infection appeared, we held a meeting and discussed the situation. And we came to the conclusion that extraordinary measures were needed to stop the virus. To be honest, we didn't really believe that the idea would be supported, but the young chief physician managed to convince his colleagues. They have been living and working for the second month now without leaving the territory of the Central District Hospital. At the same time, they are provided with everything necessary. This has undoubtedly helped to contain the further spread of COVID-19.>
Vitebsk resident Maria Lebedeva, who recovered from coronavirus, speaks with admiration today about the staff of the Sennenskaya Central District Hospital, who helped her cope with coronavirus: "I thought such a level of professionalism could only be seen in movies or read about in books – that's not true! Now I look at medics completely differently, although I'm no stranger to their work: after all, I worked as a nursing assistant in the operating room of the children's regional hospital for over 12 years."
Maria Pavlovna is 66 years old. Coronavirus caught her at her dacha in the Sennensky district, where the woman had specifically come from the city with her elderly father to hide from COVID-19. In the midst of a secluded holiday in the garden beds, relatives called and reported: some family members had tested positive for coronavirus. The dacha residents felt fine, but they had to contact the local clinic and report that they had first-level contacts nearby. General practitioner Alexander Bogino arrived at the Lebedevs' house, examined them, and warned them: specialists from the district center for hygiene and epidemiology would visit them today to take swabs.
— The very next day, they reported: the virus was detected in both of us. Two vehicles arrived from the district – an ambulance and a car, and a young man in a protective suit led the team, — the pensioner recalls. — *Confidence, clear commands, detailed knowledge of specifics — while working in the hospital, I was familiar with personal protective equipment and disinfection methods, but I had never observed such professionalism. Within minutes, the house was thoroughly disinfected, and we were put into an ambulance. Father tried to object to hospitalization, but the young specialist was so polite and spoke to him so sincerely that all doubts were dispelled. He got into the car with us and accompanied us, reassuring the new patients along the way. As we approached the Central District Hospital, Dad asked: "Young man, what is your job at the hospital?" "Chief physician," the young man replied modestly...*
