11 veterans received social housing or priority right to shared construction in Vitebsk

May 4, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk City Executive Committee has provided an opportunity for all veterans of the Great Patriotic War in need of housing improvement to receive new housing, Viktor Sazon, head of the housing policy department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. There were 16 veterans and participants of the war on the waiting list. In accordance with the legislation, three of them received social housing, as they did not own their own homes and lived in cramped conditions. Eight veterans who owned houses and apartments were given priority to become shareholders and build new housing with the help of loans and housing subsidies. The remaining veterans, who were not eligible for social housing and housing subsidies, refused the priority construction of apartments. As Viktor Sazon noted, the housing conditions of all war veterans living in the regional center have been inspected by social service employees, the housing policy department, and public utility specialists. All of them have been explained the norms of housing legislation and their rights. According to the City Executive Committee, 301 people are registered on the waiting list for social housing. In the first quarter of this year, those in need received 18 social apartments. -0-
