Social centers for persons released from places of deprivation of liberty will appear in Vitebsk and Orsha by the end of 2009

Social centers for the adaptation of persons released from places of detention should be established in Vitebsk and Orsha before the end of the current year. This decision was made today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, a BELTA correspondent reports. Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets is convinced that people should stay in these centers until they find work, and local authorities should provide them with all possible assistance in this. Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region Gennady Dysko stated that in the first half of the current year, 2.2 thousand crimes were committed in the region by previously convicted persons, their share in the overall crime structure was 39.4%. 676 crimes were committed by convicts serving sentences in the correctional institutions of the region. A significant number of repeat offenses are committed by convicts registered with the criminal executive inspection departments of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the region (568). -0-
