Social protection and enterprises of the Vitebsk region provided API to more than 120 citizens of vulnerable categories
Territorial centers for social services of the population of the Vitebsk region pay special attention to the safe living conditions of citizens in vulnerable categories. Inspection commissions during monitoring activities to prevent deaths from external causes, including emergencies, and events of the fire prevention campaign "For Safety Together", conducted jointly with the regional organization of the Belarusian Voluntary Fire Society, checked the operability of the installed fire protection equipment. Those in need were additionally provided with AFDs.
"We constantly conduct relevant briefings with the population and distribute informational materials. Fire safety measures (installation of AFDs, repair of stoves, gas equipment, electrical wiring) for certain categories of citizens in need are carried out both at the expense of budget funds and at the expense of enterprises where citizens previously worked. For example, representatives of the Vitebsk branch of Belgosstrakh provided 157 autonomous fire detectors for 67 elderly citizens or people with disabilities. AFDs were also received by 23 single and 24 single elderly citizens or people with disabilities. In total, this year, over 90 single and 30 single elderly citizens or people with disabilities have been provided with 239 AFDs," said Vera Astapenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
She added that the homes of all elderly people and people with disabilities, and families with children must be equipped with AFDs, which is especially important in the cold season in private homes that use stove heating. It is also important to help physically weakened relatives, elderly parents, people with disabilities and take care of fire safety in their homes.
