Anyone can make a jump at the Vitebsk regional championship in classic parachuting
July 1, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA/. Spectators and fans of this extreme sport will have the opportunity to make a jump during the open championship of the Vitebsk region in classic parachuting on July 3-5, Alexander Lokhanov, a parachuting coach at the A. Gorovets Vitebsk Aeroclub of DOSAAF, told a BELTA correspondent.
More than 50 athletes from the region and members of the national team of the Armed Forces of Belarus will take part in the championship. The competition program includes two exercises: a jump for landing accuracy and a solo acrobatic jump. First, participants will determine the most accurate parachutist: after leaving the An-2 aircraft at an altitude of 1 thousand meters, it is necessary to hit a disk 2 cm in diameter upon landing; penalty points are awarded for deviating from the target. An acrobatic jump is performed from an altitude of 2.2 thousand meters with a 30-second delay in parachute deployment. During this time, the participant must perform a set of figures, including 360-degree turns and somersaults. Judges assess the speed and accuracy of the acrobatic complex. Based on the tournament results, the regional team will be formed to participate in the open championship of the Armed Forces of Belarus on July 20 and the national championship in classic parachuting, which will be held in Vitebsk at the end of August.
Spectators will not be bored during the competition, which is traditionally held at the Vitebsk Aeroclub, Alexander Lokhanov is confident. The highlight of the program for Vitebsk residents will be the opportunity to experience the feeling of flight with the famous D-6 parachute on their back. It will be possible to ascend to the sky in an An-2 aircraft, following professional paratroopers, after completing an express course for a young parachutist and a mandatory medical examination directly on the aeroclub's airfield. Although the service is paid (Br70 thousand), jumps, as the aeroclub's practice shows, are popular among townspeople - the number of those wishing to test themselves reaches up to 30 people per day, Alexander Lokhanov added. -0-
