New Year's Safety Tips

Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations from December 16 to 30 will hold the republican campaign "Safe New Year!", with the aim of preventing fires and accidents due to careless handling of pyrotechnic products, as well as violations of fire safety rules in preparation for the New Year and Christmas holidays.

During the campaign, rescuers will share their top 5 tips on how to celebrate the holidays SAFELY:

1.               They will advise on how to responsibly decorate a Christmas tree: choose a place away from heating appliances, fix the tree on a stable stand, and decorate it with a factory-made electric garland.

2.               They will teach how to handle pyrotechnics safely: only adults can use them, purchase them only in specialized stores, study the instructions before use, and observe a safe zone (more than 20 m.).

3.               They will urge to be careful in icy conditions: choose a safe route sprinkled with sand, move cautiously, stepping on the entire sole, hold onto handrails and walls.

4.               They will talk about the dangers of winter water bodies: it is dangerous to go out on the ice during its thawing or freezing, as well as to check the ice strength by kicking it. Children's games on the ice should take place on special ice rinks and ice grounds.

5.               They will share recommendations on what to do in case of frostbite in severe frosts: wrap the victim in a blanket, gradually warm them with warm sweet tea, and if their condition worsens, lay them on their stomach or side, cover them with something warm, and call an ambulance.

Join the events from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and let your holidays be safe and memorable!
