A modern sports and recreation complex opened in Horadok, and similar facilities will appear in Liozno and Verkhnedvinsk in 2018.
— Not so long ago, similar complexes appeared in Shumilino and Ushachi. This is not a coincidence: the region is implementing a consistent strategy for commissioning such facilities, — said Nikolai Nikolaevich. — Next year, the construction of sports and recreation complexes in Liozno and Verkhnedvinsk will be completed, after which we plan to start working on Chashniki. Thus, they will gradually open in each district.
Unfortunately, the local residents had to wait about a quarter of a century for the appearance of the sports and recreation complex with a swimming pool, now belonging to the regional center of Olympic training for winter sports. The history of the long-term construction has been ongoing since 1992. But for various reasons, only now it was possible to make the appropriate decision and allocate funding to bring the started project to completion.
The complex includes a sauna, a doctor's office, a gym, changing rooms, showers, and a four-lane swimming pool. The pool size is 25x11 m, with a maximum depth of 2.2 m. At full capacity, it can accommodate over 500 people per day. Approximately 3.8 million rubles were spent from the Vitebsk region budget on the construction of the sports and recreation complex.
— It is not easy to find money for the creation of such facilities today, but we are doing it because people of all ages in the regions should have the opportunity to engage in physical culture and take care of their health, — emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev. — Maintaining sports and recreation complexes is also costly. Therefore, local authorities and the management of the complex must organize their work in such a way that it is profitable.
Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev expressed confidence that the funds invested in the construction of the pool will pay off and the complex will be profitable.
— The geographical location of the district center will also help: residents of nearby regions of Russia will gladly come here for training, — noted Vladimir Vladimirovich. — Also, in recent years, Gorodok has created an excellent material and technical base for training skiers and biathletes, including one of the best roller ski tracks in the country. Now, during training camps, teams will use the swimming lanes.
