A modern waste processing plant will appear in 2012 in the Vitebsk region
February 26, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. A modern waste processing plant is planned to be commissioned in early 2012 in the Vitebsk region by the Belarusian-Russian joint limited liability company "VitEcoEnergo," the enterprise director Vladimir Turavinov told a BELTA correspondent.
Investments in the project implementation will amount to at least 40 million euros. The Belarusian-Russian tandem of investors plans to create a modern enterprise for the disposal and processing of solid municipal waste (SMW) within the territory of the FEZ "Vitebsk" in the Vitebsk region. The annual processing volume will be 250 thousand tons of SMW, with the aim of extracting almost 23 thousand tons of secondary material resources, and processing the remaining waste into electricity at two units with a total capacity of about 8 MW. Following the results of design and survey work, a positive conclusion on the compliance of the site with natural and environmental criteria has been obtained, and the plant design is underway. The main construction work is planned to be completed during 2011, noted Vladimir Turavinov.
The enterprise will process solid municipal waste using high-temperature pyrolysis technology, which will ensure the environmental safety of production. Waste, after preliminary sorting and shredding, will be fed into a pyrolysis reactor and subjected to gasification in an oxygen-free environment, with the resulting synthesis gas becoming a source for energy units and electricity generation, the interlocutor explained.
The production is expected to implement the ISO 9001 quality management system. The project implementation will create almost 80 jobs. -0-
