The modern sports complex in Orsha will be commissioned in 2016
A modern sports complex in Orsha will be commissioned in 2016, said Andrey Zagursky, head of the sports and tourism department of the Orsha District Executive Committee.
"The construction of the complex for children of the Orsha district is being carried out under the Gazprom for Children project. The bulk of the financing is provided by a subsidiary of OJSC Beltransgaz. However, the region, the district executive committee, as well as the boxing and athletics federations are also helping with money and equipment procurement. The basketball federation will provide a floor with a special coating worth over Br2 billion. Currently, about 60% of the work has been financed. Interior finishing is underway, and we need about one to two months to complete everything," explained Andrey Zagursky.
The future sports complex is being built on the basis of SDYUSSHOR No. 2 in Orsha and includes a hall for training and holding competitions in team sports (volleyball, basketball, handball, mini-football, tennis), a professional boxing ring, and a gym for young boxers. "It is also planned to include a 2 km ski-roller track in the complex to boost winter sports," added Andrey Zagursky.
According to him, the facility is extremely important and necessary for the district: halls equipped to modern standards will help bring the training of champions in the listed sports to a qualitatively new level. In 2013, an Ice Arena was opened in Orsha.
It is here that the main work on the development of sports and tourism in the district and the provision of paid services is currently concentrated. Teams from neighboring districts come here to play hockey and train. The entire facility is utilized at 80%, and the income from extra-budgetary activities last year amounted to Br12 billion.-
