Rescuers from the Minsk region became the strongest at the Ministry of Emergency Situations cross-country skiing championship

January 28, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The team of the Minsk Regional Emergency Situations Ministry Department took first place in the team event at the Emergency Situations Ministry cross-country skiing championship, which concluded today in Novopolotsk. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by Alexander Yarmosh, Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Ministry Department. The winner of the main prize was determined only on the last day of the competition based on the results of the relay race. The winner of the last two championships, the team of the Vitebsk Regional Department, had the opportunity to repeat their success for the third time. However, in the relay, the hosts of the track showed only the third result, falling behind the teams of the Minsk regional and city departments. As a result, rescuers from the Vitebsk region became the owners of the second place in the team event, and the team of the Minsk City Department took third place. The hosts of the competition, as well as athletes from the capital and the Minsk region, practically left no chances for representatives of other teams in individual races, winning 10 out of 12 awards. For example, Evgeny Terashkevich (Minsk region) became the strongest in the sprint (1.2 km distance) and the 10 km race, with two awards also in the asset of another representative of the Minsk region, Vadim Karzei (silver in the sprint and bronze in the 10 km race). Among women in the 5 km race, Natalia Mazurkevich (Minsk) celebrated victory, Tatiana Ivonya from Vitebsk took second place, and Elena Radkova (Mogilev region) showed the third result. Another set of awards was contested among men in the older age group (over 40 years old) in the individual 5 km race, in which Yuri Smyk from Vitebsk won for the second year in a row, Vladimir Luhverchik (Minsk) took second place, and Andrey Yakello (Mogilev region) took third place. A total of 11 teams participated in the Emergency Situations Ministry championship, which is traditionally hosted by the Vitebsk region, representing all regional departments, republican units, and educational institutions of the ministry. Rescuers identified the strongest in five types of competitions. Based on the results of the championship, the best skiers will be included in the Emergency Situations Ministry team to participate in the Belarusian Voluntary Sports Society "Dynamo" cross-country skiing championship. -0-
