Rescuers remind about fire safety rules when using open flames
Fire rescuers remind that when using open fire, including for cooking shashlik, one must be extremely careful. This was reported by the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department.
"If you want to cook shashlik, you can do it on household plots and in designated areas," the department emphasized. They also recalled that lighting fires in parks and forest areas during the fire hazard period is strictly prohibited. Administrative responsibility is provided for violating these rules.
The department explained that to cook shashlik on a brazier, you need to choose a spot no closer than 4 m from buildings. Next to the brazier, you should place a container of water to extinguish the flame immediately if necessary. For cooking food over a campfire, you should move at least 15 m away from buildings. Before lighting a campfire, the area around the fire pit must be separated by a mineralized strip, i.e., the top layer of soil should be removed with a width of at least 0.25 m.
It is forbidden to light a campfire using gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as in windy weather. When leaving the recreation area, the campfire must be extinguished with water and covered with sand.
